‘Is It Worth Being Sad’ comes from the mind of Meg Mac. It’s a humble track filled with intimacy and delicate textures. From the haunting, ethereal opening moments, through to her soulful lead vocals and the impressive electronic sounds created by The Donuts (who have worked with the likes of H.E.R and Kendrick Lamar), ‘Is It Worth Being Sad’ is quite the journey. The tune builds to dizzying, grand heights but it started out a lot more minimalistic: “I recorded myself singing the chords into the loop pedal. Once I had that going, I started humming over the top, trying to find a melody that I liked. As soon as I found the first line, I kept going with that mood."
